The state of Algiers draws up an integrated plan to welcome the month of Ramadan

Preparations for the month of Ramadan, across the various sectors in the state of Algiers, formed the focus of a working meeting organized at the state level, devoted to presenting the measures taken to ensure the provision of basic materials and improve services during the holy month.

During the meeting, sector managers and representatives of service institutions gave detailed presentations on the prepared preparations, as the Director of Trade for the State of Algiers, Abdel Wahab Harqas, revealed the programming of 18 neighborhood markets across 14 administrative provinces, eight of which have been opened so far, in each of Bir Tota, Ain Al-Benyan, Bir Mourad Rais, Hussein Dey, Bab El Oued, Baraki, Casablanca and Bordj El Kiffan.

Regarding supplies, the director of agricultural services for the state of Algiers, Mehdi Missaoui, confirmed the availability of sufficient stocks of potatoes, garlic and onions, which will be pumped into the market specifically during the month of Ramadan, in addition to providing about 50,000 tons of red meat and 30,000 tons of white meat, most of which is locally produced.

He also pointed out that milk production has increased from 700,000 liters per day to 920,000 liters, through seven dairy farms.

Regarding the supply of potable water, the Director of Water Resources, Ramadan Qorbaj, explained that water production will increase during Ramadan to 950 thousand cubic meters per day, from various sources, which will contribute to improving distribution, as 70 percent of the capital’s population benefits from daily supply, compared to 30 percent with the one-to-two-day system.

In the transportation sector, a special plan was drawn up that includes extending working hours at night and creating new lines, as the Director of Transport, Transportation and Traffic, Idir Ramadan Sharif, explained that the “Etoza” Corporation has created 10 new lines starting from several stations towards the Algiers Mosque (Mohammadia), to ensure the movement of worshipers to perform Tarawih prayers in the best conditions.

The metro and tram operating times have also been set from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., while suburban train trips will be set between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the first half of Ramadan, with night trips added during the second half.

On the religious side, the Director of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Kamal Belassal, reviewed the completed preparations, noting that 472 out of 786 mosques had been prepared to host Tarawih prayers, with a license being granted to 71 prayer halls in the new urban neighborhoods.

As for the social aspect, the Director of Social Activities, Mukhtaria Dassi, presented a solidarity program that includes helping needy families, organizing breakfast tables, circumcising children, and supporting productive families through subsidies to acquire production tools.

In the cultural field, the Director of Culture, Yamina Ben Daoud, announced the programming of more than 180 cultural and artistic activities across the various municipalities of the capital.

The meeting witnessed the presentation of the preventive security plan for the state security services, as well as the national gendarmerie plan, which include precautionary measures to secure people and property during Ramadan, especially in public squares, markets, transportation stations, parks, and the Algiers Mosque.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the “Netcom” and “Extra Net” organizations presented their plan for the month of Ramadan, which includes deploying more than 11,000 workers and 890 trucks to ensure the cleanliness of the capital’s municipalities and respect for environmental standards.
