Minister of Communication: Uniting efforts is a prerequisite for building effective Algerian soft power – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Minister of Communication, Zouhair Bouamama, confirmed that Algeria possesses integrated strategic qualifications that enable it to establish an influential soft power, calling for unified efforts among various official and societal actors in order to enhance the country’s image and highlight its civilizational, cultural and economic components on the international scene.

The minister’s statements came during his supervision, along with Minister of Culture and Arts Malika Bendouda, of the national symposium entitled “Algerian Soft Power: Towards the formulation of a national strategy for influence,” which witnessed the participation of officials, experts, and actors in the sectors of media, culture, and economics, in addition to athletes and content makers from inside and outside the country.

Bouamama explained that the bet on soft power comes through valuing national history and cultural heritage, and employing culture, arts and sports as effective means of influence, stressing the pivotal role of the media and opinion makers in conveying the Algerian narrative in a professional and balanced manner.

The minister pointed out that this trend enjoys clear political support, through the reforms and major projects that the country is witnessing, such as the Gara Jbeilat-Tindouf-Bashar western mining line project, which reflects the profound economic transformations that Algeria is experiencing.

Bouamama also highlighted the position occupied by the Algerian community abroad as an active element in consolidating Algeria’s positive presence internationally, stressing its close connection to the homeland and its contribution to defining the image of modern Algeria.

The Minister of Communication concluded by emphasizing that this symposium represents a starting point for ongoing institutional work, aiming to prepare an integrated national strategy to create soft power that reflects Algeria’s position and is consistent with its regional and international aspirations.
