The President of the Republic: The Ghar Jbeilat-Tindouf-Bashar line is the starting point for major railway projects across the country – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, revealed today that the Ghar Jbeilat-Tindouf-Béchar railway line constitutes a starting point for similar projects that will include the states of the East, Central and Far South, all the way to Tamanrasset.

During the regular media meeting with representatives of the national press, the President of the Republic explained that there is a complementary project in Bashar linked to the Ghar Jbeilat mine, which aims to purify iron ore and transform it locally, thus enhancing the national added value.

President Tebboune confirmed that a report issued by a specialized Spanish studies office proved the high and clear returns of the Ghar Jbeilat mine project, which reflects its economic feasibility and strategic importance.

In the same context, the President of the Republic indicated that the National Railway Transport Company has opened 500 new jobs to meet the requirements for operating the new railway line.

President Tebboune also highlighted the significant development in construction capabilities, explaining that it is now possible to complete a 4-kilometre-long bridge within 6 months, after it took years to complete bridges that do not exceed a few hundred meters in length in the past.

The President of the Republic stressed that moving to the ranks of emerging countries requires exploiting mining wealth and transferring it locally, in order to avoid dependence on fuel and the fluctuation of oil prices.

In the context of strengthening national unity and breaking the isolation of remote areas, President Tebboune stressed that extending railway lines to isolated areas consolidates national cohesion, adding: “I will not rest until the train reaches Tamanrasset.”

The President of the Republic also announced that the railway line linking the capital and Tamanrasset will enter into service at the end of 2028, in addition to linking the north to Adrar Province via train at the beginning of next year.
