Today, Saturday, the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Control, Amal Abdel Latif, announced special discounts for the holy month of Ramadan.

These reductions affect some widely consumed products as part of efforts to support families and preserve the purchasing power of citizens.

The Minister also announced the launch of 560 neighborhood markets across 69 states, starting on February 9, 2026. These markets will display various products at reasonable and reduced prices, with the aim of relieving pressure on the markets and enabling citizens to purchase their needs with ease.

Jadal said in her speech that instructions had been given to the Magro Foundation to ensure the continuation of the wholesale markets for vegetables and fruits starting this week, allowing the continuity of supply during the weekends and avoiding any disturbances in the market.

The Minister of Internal Trade confirmed that this initiative comes in anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan, which usually witnesses a change in consumer behavior and a rise in demand for widely consumed items.

The Minister also praised the strong involvement of economic operators in this dynamic of solidarity, by approving significant discounts on the occasion of the holy month, which will be put on the market starting tomorrow, Sunday, in a way that contributes to protecting the purchasing power of citizens and consolidating the spirit of economic and social responsibility.

This came under the supervision of the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Control, Amal Abdel Latif, accompanied by the Minister of the Environment and Quality of Life, Kawthar Krekou, and the Minister of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Issues, Soria Moulouji, today at the Central Post Office Square, at the official launch of the national campaign to rationalize consumption and reduce food waste during the holy month of Ramadan.

On the occasion, the ministers visited the pavilions of the exhibition dedicated to this event, which aims to enhance community awareness of the importance of rationalizing consumption and preserving food resources.

In the same context, the Minister stated that the internal trade sector launched a broad national awareness-raising campaign to rationalize consumption and reduce waste, under the slogan: Abundance exists… rationalizing consumption is your choice” and “Ramadan is a holy month, do not make it a race to waste.”

In the same regard, she pointed out that the month of Ramadan usually witnesses a change in consumer behavior, which unfortunately leads to a significant increase in the waste of bread and other food items, calling on everyone to adopt responsible consumer behavior that reflects the holy month’s values ​​of moderation and solidarity.
