Submitting applications for advance retirement in the education sector on this date – New Algeria

Abdel Wahab Khoulilan, in charge of studies and summaries at the level of the Ministry of National Education, confirmed that education sector employees concerned with prior retirement in accordance with previous decisions taken by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, can submit their applications in this regard during the first three months, that is, the first three months, of the school year.

The same source said in statements made over the air to the French-language third radio channel that teachers in the education sector can, on this basis, benefit from three full years before the previously applicable retirement age. In this context, they can request to benefit from retirement at the age of 57 years for male professors and 52 years for female professors, in accordance with Executive Decree 26-74 issued on January 16 of the current year, 2026.

The same source also indicated during the “Today’s Guest” segment broadcast by the channel that approval of these requests is an undeniable right for those concerned, given – as he said – that it is guaranteed under the prevailing legislation.

The same spokesman also stressed that the importance of teachers submitting requests to benefit from advance retirement during the first three months of the academic year is due to the guardianship authorities’ keenness not to cause any disturbance at the level of educational institutions.

As for the categories that can benefit from this advance retirement, Khulilan Abdel Wahab, in charge of studies and summaries at the level of the Ministry of National Education, mentioned the category of professors, in addition to all the categories that belong to the educational structure, which include directors of educational institutions and education inspectors, as well as the category of observers within educational institutions.

The Council of Ministers had agreed, in its meeting held on April 20 of last year, 2025, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to reduce the retirement age for teachers and professors of the three educational levels, primary, intermediate, and secondary.

At that time, the decision taken in this regard was welcomed by the sector’s unions and employees in general, as they considered it an important gain that should be appreciated by groups practicing the profession of raising entire generations.
