Arrest of a criminal network that defrauded 500 people via Facebook.. Details! – New Algeria

The police services in Tipaza were able to dismantle a criminal network involved in defrauding several people through social media sites, according to a statement issued by the same services on Wednesday.

The same source explained that “following a complaint filed by a merchant regarding his exposure to fraud by a person who promotes goods for sale through Blue Space, the Economic and Financial Crimes Task Force began its extensive investigations into the case,” noting that the investigations “led to identifying five suspects, with four of them being arrested, while the fifth remains on the run.”

The members of this gang are active within “a criminal network that works to lure victims through the Facebook network with fake accounts on the basis that they are the owners of a company specialized in selling equipment, rubber wheels, and iron fencing posts.”

The findings showed that there were more than 500 people who were defrauded by this criminal network at the national level, according to the same source.

In parallel with the continuation of investigations under the supervision of the Republic Prosecutor at the Tipaza Court, the Tipaza Police sent an appeal to the public, accompanied by pictures of the suspects, as well as the accounts and numbers that were used by the gang members, to identify their victims.
