Algeria strengthens parliamentary friendship with African countries – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Today, Tuesday, at the Council’s headquarters in Algiers, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Azouz Nasseri, supervised the inauguration ceremony of friendship groups between the National Assembly and the corresponding assemblies in a number of parliaments of African countries, including Zimbabwe, South Africa, Somalia, Rwanda, Namibia, Nigeria, Chad and Kenya.
This inauguration came within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy, which aims to extend bridges of cooperation and strengthen the bonds of friendship between peoples through their representatives in legislative institutions, according to what Nasseri explained in his speech during the ceremony.
Nasseri stressed that this initiative reflects deep-rooted historical ties between Algeria and the African continent, recalling the history of the common struggle against colonialism and the importance of strengthening the sovereignty and comprehensive development of the countries of the continent. He added that the National Assembly is adopting this mechanism to enhance international cooperation, as it is a fraternal space that combines national responsibility with the collective interest of the continent.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State in charge of African Affairs, Salama Bakhta Mansouri, members of the National Assembly, African ambassadors and diplomats accredited to Algeria, while during the meeting lists of friendship groups were handed over to the ambassadors and their representatives.
Nasseri stressed the necessity of spreading a culture of peace and strengthening African unity, citing Algeria’s experience in confronting terrorism, and calling on African parliamentarians to work together to accelerate development, reject conflicts, and achieve continental integration.
