Strengthening complementary relations between the National Assembly and the Constitutional Court

A delegation from the Committee for Legal and Administrative Affairs, Human Rights, Local Organization, Territory Development and Regional Division, headed by Mohamed Rabah, Chairman of the Committee, on Monday, and commissioned by Azouz Nasseri, Speaker of the National Assembly, visited both the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court, within the framework of the program of visits carried out by the Committee as well as enhancing integration between institutions.

The committee delegation received its visit by heading to the headquarters of the Constitutional Court, where it was received by Leila Asalaoui, President of the Constitutional Court, who welcomed the delegation, appreciating the importance of strengthening the relations of integration and coordination between the two institutions, within the framework of the constitutional powers of each of them.

For his part, Mohamed Rabah, head of the delegation, presented greetings from Azouz Nasseri, Speaker of the National Assembly, expressing his appreciation for the pivotal role played by the Constitutional Court in protecting the constitution, stressing the Legal Affairs Committee’s keenness to strengthen channels of consultation and cooperation between the two institutions.

The National Assembly delegation visited several stations, including the library, the Constitutional Court Museum, in addition to visiting the deliberations hall and the session hall, where explanations were provided about constitutional powers and the organization of sessions.

The delegation also listened to an intervention presented by Ammar Abbas, a member of the Constitutional Court, entitled “Functional Integration between the Constitutional Court and Parliament,” during which he discussed the most prominent aspects of cooperation between the two institutions, the areas of constitutional notification, the role of the court in monitoring legislative work, interpreting the constitution, and the final and binding nature of the decisions of the Constitutional Court, after which the floor was opened for discussion.

The committee delegation then headed to the Supreme Court, where it was received by the First President, Tahar Mamouni, and the Attorney General, Mr. Abdel Rahim Majeed, accompanied by the Assistant Attorney General, and the heads of the chambers, along with a number of advisors and executives.

During this visit, the delegation followed a presentation that included a documentary tape dedicated to the digitization of the Supreme Court and the results achieved in this field. The visit also included the single window, where the delegation received explanations about its role and importance in accelerating and facilitating administrative procedures.

The delegation moved to the Great Sessions Hall, where explanations were given to it about the history of the Supreme Court building and its facilities, followed by a visit to the Social Chamber Control Secretariat, where it learned about the system for managing judicial files electronically, and attended an electronic deliberation of the Real Estate Chamber. The delegation also stopped at the historical exhibition of the official uniforms of Supreme Court judges.

It is worth noting that the committee’s delegation consists of: Dahu Ould Kabilah, Belkacem Boukhari, Kaddour Baraja, Hamoud Abdel Nasser, Boukhmis Belhimer, Abderrahmane Belhiba, Mohamed Larbi Soleimani, and Abdel Bari Bouznada.

For reference, the visit of the committee delegation will continue to a number of constitutional bodies and institutions, on Tuesday, February 3, and Wednesday, February 4, 2026, according to the established program.
