Algeria has made progress in regulating the use of modern technologies

During the recent period, Algeria has achieved remarkable progress in regulating the use of modern technologies and the digital space, and has invested in developing infrastructure, preparing policies, regulations and laws, and supporting existing legal frameworks to combat crimes and cyber attacks.

The High Prefectural Minister for Digitization, Meriem Ben Mouloud Al-Dagami, explained during the conclusion of the activities of the National Forum tagged with the slogan “Protecting young people from the social ills of the age,” according to a statement by the Prefecture, that Algeria has strengthened its institutional framework by establishing the High Prefecture for Digitization, the Information Systems Security Agency, as well as the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data. It has also established laws and regulations to confront attacks and cybercrimes that use social media platforms as a suitable environment for ease of access.

The Minister also added that Algeria has made great efforts to regulate the use of modern technologies and the digital space, and has invested in developing infrastructure through projects completed by the High Prefecture for Digitization, by establishing national data centers to store data within the country, as well as cloud computing services, in order to encourage the storage of data and digital solutions within the country, to avoid using solutions provided by foreign countries, the exploitation of which leads to acceptance of the conditions and regulations in effect in the hosting countries.

The same speaker highlighted that Algeria has made great efforts to regulate the use of modern technologies and the digital space, by preparing policies, regulations and laws, and supporting existing legal frameworks to combat crimes and cyber attacks, in addition to developing and publishing the national strategy for digital transformation and the law that includes the national system for data governance.

The High Conservative Minister for Digitization also confirmed that awareness and digital immunity are the first line of defense that young people must use on social media sites.
