Will the Algerian Federation sue CAF before the Tass? – New Algeria

The iron fist between the Algerian Football Federation and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to witness a new episode of intense conflict, against the backdrop of the sanctions recently imposed on the “Greens” team.

Last Wednesday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Harsh punishment On the national team and the Algerian Football Association, “FAF”, against the backdrop of the events that took place in the match against Nigeria, in the quarter-finals of the African Cup “CAN 2025”.

CAF suspended goalkeeper Luca Zidane for two matches. Defender Rafik Belghali was also suspended for four matches, including two suspended matches. This punishment will take effect during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The CAF Committee imposed a fine of $100,000 on the Algerian Football Federation.

The Algerian team was defeated in that match by two goals to zero, which caused it to be excluded from the competition, which was later won by the Senegal team after its victory in the final match over the organizing country’s team by a score of one to zero.

Al-Faf confirmed, in… statement It said, last Wednesday evening, that “following the issuance of these decisions, the Algerian Football Federation immediately initiated the appeal procedures stipulated in accordance with the applicable laws, to object to these sanctions.”

The statement added: “The Federation also continues to follow this file with the utmost attention, and reaffirms its determination to defend the interests of Algerian football, within the framework of strict respect for the regulatory and institutional frameworks.”

“FAF” has the story of “CAF” in “TASS”

It is clear from this statement that “FAF” is ready to resort to all continental and international sports bodies to defend the rights of the Algerian national team, including an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (TAS).

However, before resorting to the “TASS”, the Algerian Federation will ask the CAF Disciplinary Committee for the legal materials on which it relied to impose these sanctions, and then it will appeal to the African Authority and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

“FAF” and “CAF” have a special story with “TASS”, as the Algerian Football Federation succeeded in winning the case it filed against the Confederation of African Football in the case of the Moroccan “Nahda Berkane shirt”, when “CAF” announced the defeat of USM Algiers in the semi-finals, back and forth, of the Confederation Cup football competition.
