Lavrov: Establishing a Palestinian state is necessary to solve the Gaza crisis – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov affirmed on Tuesday that the establishment of a Palestinian state constitutes an essential step towards reaching a permanent settlement to the Gaza crisis.

This is in the context of the “Peace Council” initiative launched by US President Donald Trump.

Lavrov explained during a press conference on the results of Russian diplomacy for the year 2025, that Russia had received concrete proposals and a draft peace council charter,

Stressing that the implementation of the United Nations resolution to establish a Palestinian state remains a basic criterion for achieving peace and stability in the region.

Lavrov’s statement comes after Trump announced the formation of a peace council in Gaza and invited several countries, including Russia and Belarus, to join this council.
