Spain benefited from the riots in the Cannes final

A press report published by the Spanish “AS” dealt with the riots that took place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between the organizing country, Morocco and Senegal.

The famous newspaper wrote, “Morocco is collapsing and Madrid is rising,” in reference to the former’s dwindling chances of hosting the 2030 World Cup final.

FIFA granted the honor of organizing the 24th edition of the World Cup to Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

In addition, three countries from the South American continent, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, will host the first three matches on their soil to celebrate the centenary of the competition.

The famous “Santiago Bernabeu” stadium, the home of Real Madrid, competes with the new stadium scheduled to be built in Casablanca, Morocco, to host the World Cup final.

Insecurity and chaos

The final confrontation of the 35th edition of the African Cup of Nations, in which the Senegalese national team prevailed with a goal to none; A state of chaos and riots, especially in the last minutes of regular time.

The situation became mixed up after Congolese referee Jean-Jacques Ndala announced a penalty kick for Morocco, as the Teranga Lions decided to withdraw from the field.

This was followed by clashes erupting between security forces and Senegalese fans present at Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

A portion of the fans stormed the field, which was also the scene of another strange behavior, as Moroccan ball retrievers and some Moroccan national team players appeared to attack the Senegalese national team reserve goalkeeper, Yhvane Diouf.

The reason is because the latter prevented the ball carriers from stealing the towel of first-choice goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Some tension prevailed before the crucial date, due to the lack of security and protection necessary for the Senegalese team when it landed in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, coming from Tangier via high-speed train.

The Senegalese delegation was left facing the crowds before joining the bus that took them to the residence, which violates the regulations in force in international competitions.

Before competing in the final, the African champion refused to train on the floor of the sports complex for the Moroccan national teams, in accordance with the principle of equal opportunities.

The Senegalese also complained after the match that three players had suffered from food poisoning, namely Krippen Diatta, Pape Matar Sarr and Oussoino Niang.

The duo, Diatta and Matar Sarr, spent the night before the match in the hospital, according to what was revealed by the “Tagat” media organization.
