The third phase of vaccination against polio on January 25 – New Algeria

The Ministry of Health confirmed, Monday evening, the success of the first and second phases of the national vaccination campaign, which benefited nearly 4 million children across the country. According to what was reported by the Algerian News Agency.
The Director General of Prevention and Health Promotion at the Ministry of Health, Jamal Fourar, explained, according to the same source, that the first and second phases of this campaign were successful, as “during which there was a great demand from parents for this process, which will allow for the strengthening of collective immunity.” This was done through a media day entitled “Enhancing Confidence in Vaccination through Evaluating Performance and Results,” which was organized in anticipation of the launch of the third phase of the national polio vaccination campaign.
In the same context, Jamal Fourar indicated that the third phase scheduled from January 25 to January 31 will include the same category. That is, children between the ages of two months and five years, at the level of 274 public neighborhood health institutions.
According to the same source, the head of the National Polio Eradication Committee, Professor Ahmed Nasser Masmoudi, pointed out that during the first and second phases, the children in question were vaccinated orally, while during the third phase vaccination will be administered through injections, which will allow “strengthening immunity against paralysis and making it integrated.”
For her part, Nasima Saei, a specialist in epidemiology and preventive medicine at Hussein Dey University Hospital Center, praised the important role played by the media, imams and religious guides, along with various actors in civil society as well as kindergartens, in the success of the national vaccination campaign against this disease.
