Denmark strengthens its military presence in Greenland despite Trump’s criticism – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Danish Defense Minister Truls Lund Poulsen announced on Wednesday that his country will continue to strengthen its military presence in Greenland, while continuing dialogue and coordination with NATO allies, following American criticism that claimed that Copenhagen was turning a blind eye to the defense of the autonomous Arctic region.

Paulsen’s statement came before an upcoming meeting at the White House that includes officials from Greenland, Denmark, and the United States to discuss the future of the region, where he said: “We will focus on enhancing maneuvers and increasing NATO’s presence in the Arctic region.”

He added that Denmark is conducting an ongoing dialogue with its allies regarding new military activities for the year 2026, in light of the escalating security interest in the Arctic region as a result of increasing international tensions.
