Expert Mizab: The danger of cocaine and hallucinogens increases compared to treated kif – New Algeria

Security expert, Ahmed Mezab, said that the danger of trafficking in cocaine and hallucinogenic tablets has become clear in recent years, based on the quantities seized by the security authorities in the year 2025, praising in this context the efforts made by the latter to confront this crime.

The expert Mizab said, in a statement to “elhiwar us”, while addressing the outcome of the People’s National Army’s operations for the year 2025, “The real existential danger today exists in hallucinogens and cocaine, if the numbers become enormous. In the year 2024, 631 kg of cocaine were seized, and during 2025, more than 900 kg were seized.”

Regarding hallucinogenic tablets, he said, “Hallucinogenic tablets have jumped from 25 million hallucinogenic tablets in 2024 to 40 million in 2025.”

The spokesman stated that these numbers, which have almost doubled, confirm the existence of a real danger regarding the trade in these toxins, after the first danger in previous years was the trade in processed kif across the Moroccan border.

The expert in security affairs, Mizab, believes that this prominent shift revealed by the outcome of the year 2025, which is represented by the remarkable increase in operations to combat narcotics and psychotropic substances, which recorded unprecedented quantities of medicated cocaine, cocaine, and hallucinogenic tablets, reflects a shift in the nature of the threat from a direct security threat to a complex threat targeting society, the economy, and the state’s productive capacity.

While he pointed out that the People’s National Army dealt with this file as a national security issue with strategic dimensions and not just an isolated criminal activity, by striking smuggling networks on the borders and in the national depths and pursuing financing and distribution routes, which reflects a deep understanding of the logic of new wars that depend on exhausting the state from within instead of traditional confrontation – according to him -.

Mizab stressed that the operational outcome of the People’s National Army for the year 2025 reflects the clarity of the strategic vision and the stability of the security doctrine of the Algerian state in dealing with a complex internal and regional environment characterized by the intersection of security threats with geopolitical transformations and unconventional pressures that target the stability of countries from within them, not through direct confrontation.

He also pointed out that the People’s National Army moved according to a proactive logic based on preventing the threat from forming before it turns into an open crisis, by combining precise intelligence work, flexible operational deployment, and tight coordination between the various security and military corps.
