The Venezuelan Vice President calls on Washington for cooperation – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Venezuelan Vice President, Delcy Rodriguez, called on the US government to cooperate, following her appointment as interim president of the country following the US arrest of President Nicolas Maduro.

Today, Monday, Rodriguez published a message addressed to the world and the United States through her account on the “Instagram” platform, in which she affirmed Venezuela’s aspiration to live in “an environment free of external threats, based on mutual respect and international cooperation,” renewing her country’s commitment to the option of peaceful coexistence.

She explained that establishing balanced relations based on mutual respect between Venezuela and the countries of the region is a top priority, stressing the importance of strengthening regional cooperation.

It also sent a direct call to the US government to adopt an approach based on joint development, aimed at consolidating coexistence within the framework of international law.

Rodriguez addressed US President Donald Trump, saying: “Our people and our region deserve peace and dialogue, not war,” stressing that this message has always been expressed by Maduro, and today it has become a unifying position for all Venezuelans.

This comes after the Venezuelan Supreme Court ruled that Delcy Rodriguez assume the position of interim president, following the announcement of the arrest of President Maduro.

On Saturday, US President Donald Trump announced the launch of a massive military operation against Venezuela, which resulted in the arrest of Maduro and his wife and their transfer to the United States, while the US Department of Justice published an indictment document accusing Maduro of leading a “corrupt and illegitimate” government, and of cooperating with dangerous networks of drug traffickers and terrorism.
