The General Union of Algerian Tradesmen and Craftsmen reassured merchants and economic operators regarding the use of electronic payment devices (TPE), praising the positive intervention of the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Control, and the practical measures taken, especially with regard to launching awareness campaigns and accompanying merchants in opening bank accounts and using electronic payment methods.

The Union explained, in a statement today, Monday, that the Secretary-General of the General Union of Algerian Tradesmen and Craftsmen, Issam Badrisi, was accompanied by a delegation from the Union in a meeting that brought them together with the Minister of Internal Trade, devoted to discussing urgent developments at the level of the national market and their repercussions on commercial and service activity, in addition to discussing the concerns of merchants, craftsmen, economic operators, and transporters.

By the way, the Union appreciated the spirit of responsibility, good listening, and transparency that characterized this meeting, praising the Ministry’s understanding of the concerns raised, which reflects a real will to address the recorded problems in a participatory framework aimed at ensuring the stability of the national market, improving its supply, and protecting the purchasing power of the citizen, while taking into account the interests of professionals.

In its statement, the Union reassured merchants that the conditions are proceeding within their normal framework, calling on merchants, economic operators, service owners and transporters to continue their activities with all responsibility, and not to be led by rumors circulating on some social media sites, which indicate that financial fines amounting to 50 thousand dinars will be imposed on every merchant who refuses to deal using electronic payment devices.

At the conclusion of its statement, the General Union of Algerian Merchants and Craftsmen reiterated its emphasis on remaining open the doors of dialogue with the Ministry of Internal Trade and National Market Control, and its continued accompaniment of merchants and economic operators, defending their legitimate concerns, and working to deliver their demands to the competent authorities within the framework of responsible dialogue and serving the national interest.
