Greenland’s Prime Minister rejects Trump’s annexation threats – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Greenland’s Prime Minister, Frederik Nielsen, responded to US President Donald Trump’s statements regarding the annexation of the island, stressing in a Facebook post: “No more pressure and no illusions of annexation. Dialogue is only possible through the correct channels and in accordance with international law.”

Nielsen’s response came after Trump said that the United States needs Greenland for strategic and security reasons.

Pointing out the increase in Russian and Chinese influence in the region, and that American control over the island will serve Western interests and the security of the European Union as well.
