Demands for comprehensive reforms of the educational system during 2026

Educational advisor, Kamal Nawari, called for comprehensive reforms to the national educational system during the year 2026, stressing the importance of keeping pace with developments in the education sector.
Nawari confirmed in a statement exclusively to Al-Ekhbariya that what is expected from the education sector during the current year is to reconsider educational programs and curricula for some levels across the three stages of education, in line with the requirements of the times and the needs of learners.
The spokesman stressed the need to reconsider the official exams for the 2027 session, especially the baccalaureate exam, by focusing on basic subjects and adding new subjects that keep pace with the labor market, as well as reducing the content of subjects in the intermediate education stage and deleting some subjects in the primary education stage.
Nawari called for the restructuring of the General Inspectorate of Education and the installation of ten regional inspectorates in accordance with Executive Decree 286/20, which determines the organization and functioning of the General Inspectorate for National Education, which has remained frozen since 2020.
He also called for the installation of the new directorates in accordance with Executive Decree 24/89, which includes the organization of the central administration of the Ministry of National Education, which referred to the creation of the General Directorate for School Sports and Cultural Activities, which includes two sub-directories.
In the same context, the educational advisor pointed out the importance of issuing the special law regulating private schools, which had been frozen for years, explaining that what is new in this law is the imposition of the standardization of school buildings as applied in public schools, and the application of Algerian programs as a curriculum and curriculum, in addition to allowing the establishment of specialized schools such as secondary mathematics, computer science, or cybersecurity.
Nawari pointed out that we are awaiting the issuance of legal texts related to gradually transferring the management of primary schools to the Ministry of Education and abandoning the municipalities in this area, in order to ensure unified management and improve performance.
The speaker called for the opening of professional competitions for professors and administrators in accordance with Decree 54/25, according to the ranks created in this decree, with the issuance of new decisions related to the training process and a reconsideration of the hourly size, units, and transactions taught by the component, especially since there are new ranks in the aforementioned decree. He also called for the opening of new national institutes to train employees of the education sector, and the installation of the Islamic education subject in the intermediate education stage starting from the academic year 2026/2027, in addition to the installation of a new curriculum in English language for the second year of intermediate.
Nawari stressed the importance of issuing regulatory texts related to the basic law on educational disciplines and the law on retired professors and the ranks descending from them, as well as organizing the Algerian Mathematics Olympiad.
The educational advisor concluded his statement by calling for the opening of discussions with specialists in national seminars on sensitive issues that include the structure of education levels such as school guidance, education divisions, specialized and private education, curricula and courses, the baccalaureate exam, the employment and training system, schooling conditions, decentralized management, and the outcomes of the educational system such as the tribal gains of university education.
