This evening, Friday, the National Union of Taxi Transporters issued a statement in which it revealed the outcomes of the meeting it held with the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Interior, Local Communities and Transport, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Transport.
The union explained that the meeting addressed the current situation in the transportation sector, in light of the announcement of several strikes and protests across various states of the country by taxi drivers and transporters, including the transport of goods.
The union confirmed, in its statement, that it had been agreed, with the blessing of the highest authorities in the country, led by the Minister of Interior, Local Communities and Transport and the Prime Minister, on the official increase in transport prices.
The agreement also included amending the traffic law to take into account the privacy and demands of the sector’s professionals, in addition to supporting the transportation sector by taking accompanying measures that would improve the professional and social conditions of its workers.
At the conclusion of its statement, the National Union of Taxi Transporters called on all its members and associates to immediately return to work, contribute to the success of school entry, and exercise a spirit of responsibility, while giving priority to the interest of the nation above all considerations.
