The Merchants Union calls on carriers not to respond to strike calls

The General Union of Algerian Tradesmen and Craftsmen called on professionals in the transportation sector not to respond to calls circulated on social media sites that incite a strike, stressing its commitment to addressing the sector’s concerns through official channels.
The Federation explained in an explanatory statement that the National Federation of Taxis and the National Federation of Private Carriers and Goods Transport are following with great interest all the professional and social concerns raised by carriers in their various categories, stressing its commitment to raising these concerns with all responsibility to the competent authorities within the framework of the approved legal and institutional channels.
The Union urged professionals to exercise caution, give priority to awareness and the spirit of responsibility, and put the interests of the nation and the citizen above all else, warning against being led by calls issued by pages of unknown origin, as they may have negative consequences affecting the normal functioning of public facilities and services.
Issam Badrisi, Secretary-General and official spokesman for the Union, stressed that the doors of dialogue and consultation remain open with public authorities, in the belief that serious and responsible dialogue is the best way to address the problems raised and find practical solutions that preserve the rights of professionals and serve public stability.
This statement comes in light of the circulation of calls on social media platforms urging taxi drivers and transporters to strike, at a time when the union seeks to govern the sector and solve its problems away from any movements that may affect the economic movement and the mobility of citizens.
