Egyptian rule to manage the Algeria-DRC-New Algeria meeting

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) appointed an Egyptian refereeing team to officiate Algeria’s match with the Democratic Republic of Congo, for the round of 16 of the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

The Africa Cup of Nations finals will continue in Morocco from December 21 until January 18.

The Algerian national team will face its counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo next Tuesday in Rabat. He will moderate the meeting Egyptian arbitration crew Led by Mohamed Maarouf as the main referee, assisted by Mahmoud Abu Al-Rijal and Ahmed Hossam Taha. Mohamed Ashour was also appointed to supervise the “VAR” video referee technique.

The Algerian national team had qualified for the quarter-finals of “CAN 2025”, after topping the fifth group with 9 points, thanks to three victories in three matches, which it achieved against the teams of Sudan (3-0), Burkina Faso (1-0), andEquatorial Guinea (3-1). As for the Democratic Republic of Congo, it qualified after occupying second place in Group Four with 7 points, with only a goal difference from the leader, Senegal.

It is worth noting that the national team was eliminated in the first round of the 2021 finals in Cameroon and 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire. This is after he won the 2019 tournament title in Egypt.
