The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Saghir Saadawi, revealed that candidates for the baccalaureate exam will pass subjects in their basic specialty subjects only, while the content of the “Payam” exam will be reduced.
The Minister said, in his response to questions from members of the Kifl Parliament, that the aim of this measure is to enable students to focus more on the subjects related to their specialization, and to give them a greater opportunity to focus on the subjects of their specialization, without burdening them with subjects that may be considered secondary or related to other specializations. The Minister adds that these materials should be included as supporting tools for other specializations, indicating that this reform will be implemented in the near future.
After noting that education in the secondary stage is organized in the form of divisions, the Minister said that education in the intermediate education stage is considered an orientation stage, aiming to acquaint the student with the various existing subjects so that he can later choose the appropriate division for him in secondary education.
It turned out that work in middle education focuses on directing inclinations and not on specializing in subjects, in order to give the student the opportunity to learn about various subjects and choose the section that suits him later in secondary education, while benefiting from the role of guidance and counseling at this stage. Therefore, it was decided to reduce the content of “Bayam” subjects starting this year.
The Minister of National Education announced that a new division will be included in secondary education, to keep pace with the requirements of modern university training, especially in specializations related to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and nanotechnology, which require appropriate secondary training, before enrolling in higher education.
