The Minister of National Education said in a speech he gave after the inauguration of the Children’s Parliament, in the presence of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Azouz Nasseri, the President of the Constitutional Court, Leila Asalaoui, the Presidential Advisor in charge of associations and civil society, the President of the Algerian Commission for the Rights of the Child, and various representatives of state bodies and institutions and some members of the government, that Algeria is one of the first countries to provide all the means and procedures for educating all children across the entire country, and the creation and installation of the Children’s Parliament was considered a message directed to Algeria’s enemies. And those who hate it, especially those who exploit the human rights card to pressure and blackmail Algeria to dissuade it from its sovereign positions and decisions, which have become disturbing to them.

The Minister of Education addressed the parliamentary children, saying: The installation of the Children’s Parliament and carrying out your legislative duties under the dome of the National People’s Assembly is an opportunity for you to express your support and solidarity with those who are struggling with the harsh cold and the weapons of occupation in the Gaza Strip and the Western Sahara, and to assume the same tasks carried out by the representatives and members of the two chambers of Parliament in defending the issues of liberation from colonialism and domination and defending Algeria and its interests in various international forums. Minister Saadawi added, You will undoubtedly meet with Your counterparts are involved in official and international activities outside Algeria. Therefore, you are obligated to follow the example of the representatives and members of Parliament in both chambers in bearing the responsibility of protecting and defending the interests of Algeria, as well as issues of liberation and solidarity with the oppressed and defending them in various international forums.

The Minister of Education returned to talking about the process of creating the Children’s Parliament and electing its members, where he said that the elections took place in two stages, the first took place in March and the second in April of the current year, and about two million children studying in primary and secondary levels in all states of the country ran for these elections. The first held activities in educational institutions, and the second in education directorates across the states of the country.

The government member added, “If the various electoral processes require the candidate to be competent and have a university degree, then the Children’s Parliament elections adopted a criterion of the highest average for each teacher who entered the fray in these elections, that is, a rate of 17 out of 20 and above, that is, relying only on the category of geniuses to fill the seats in the Children’s Parliament. According to the primary official in charge of the education sector, this process will contribute to instilling citizenship, strengthening national cohesion, strengthening the home front, exchanging opinions and ideas, and respecting other opinions, indicating that the consolidation of citizenship passes through Inevitably, by displaying good behavior and civil sense, and confronting everything that might lead to division and causing strife among the united Algerian people.

Minister Saadawi called on the parliamentary children to represent Algeria in the best possible way in various bodies and forums and to fiercely defend Algeria’s foreign policy and all its institutions to protect its interests.
