Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, affirmed, today, Saturday, Algeria’s commitment to effectively contributing to the realization of the partnership’s priorities. In his speech during his participation in the second ministerial meeting of the African-Russian Partnership Forum held in Cairo, according to a statement by the Ministry, Attaf praised the Republic’s embrace of
Egypt Arabic for the work of the meeting, praising the Russian side’s keenness to make this African-Russian appointment a success, which falls within the framework of enhancing joint cooperation and building a multidimensional partnership.
Attaf explained that Algeria attaches special importance to the political dimension of this partnership, especially with regard to completing the path of decolonization on the African continent, reiterating its support for the initiative to establish an international day to combat colonialism, highlighting in this context Algeria’s recent organization of an international conference on
Criminalization of colonialism Legally.
On the security level, Attaf affirmed Algeria’s support for the principle of African solutions to African problems, in light of the escalation of terrorist threats and the worsening hotspots of tension on the continent, stressing the need to strengthen national capabilities, reject external interference, and promote political and peaceful solutions.
Economically, he welcomed the growing African-Russian trade exchanges, calling for redoubling efforts to enable African countries to correct the delay in achieving sustainable development goals as the 2030 horizon approaches, and to keep pace with global transformations in the fields of digitization, artificial intelligence, and renewable energies.
Regarding international governance, Attaf praised the African-Russian understanding calling for more equitable representation of Africa in
Security CouncilEnhancing its presence within international financial, monetary, and commercial institutions.
Attaf concluded by stressing that the maturity of the African-Russian partnership qualifies it to contribute to building a more just and equitable international system, based on respect for international law, multilateralism, and strengthening the role of the United Nations in maintaining international peace and security.
