Zerrougui: Completion of a new submarine cable to increase the speed of Internet flow – New Algeria

Ali Zerrougui, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, revealed on Monday that the foundation stone for a new submarine cable linking Algeria to the international telecommunications network will soon be laid, which will further increase the speed of Internet flow in Algeria.

According to Algerian radio, Zerrougui explained that, within two days, the foundation stone will be laid for a new submarine cable to strengthen the Internet infrastructure in Algeria, which has a capacity of 10.2 terabytes.

In the same regard, he stressed that Algeria is witnessing comfort in the speed of Internet flow thanks to this huge storage capacity.

The Minister also indicated that the number of subscribers connected to fiber optics has currently reached 2.9 million, and he is optimistic that their number will rise to 3 million within the next few weeks, to 3 million subscribers, waiting for connectivity to this type of service to become widespread in 2027.
