The Greens displayed their strength against Zimbabwe, in the friendly confrontation hosted by Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday evening.

The Desert Warriors reassured the Algerian fans, after they performed well in a match that saw four goals scored.

The national team took the lead through Baghdad Bounedjah in the 14th minute, then Mohamed El Amin Amoura doubled the lead in the 41st minute, and Joan Hajam added the third goal in the 46th minute.

Striker Tawanda Chirwa reduced the gap for Zimbabwe, two minutes before the end of normal time.

Tactical adjustment

Coach Vladimir Petkovic made a tactical adjustment in the match against Zimbabwe, adopting a 3-4-1-2 formation in the starting lineup led by top scorer Baghdad Bounedjah in the first half.

The technical director relied on Ben Bout as goalkeeper, while the trio was formed by Zinedine Belaid, Samir Sharqi and Hajam. Defense axis.

The midfield included five players, with Rafik Belghali and Ait Nouri occupying the two corridors, while Ismail Bennacer and Ramez Zerrougui took care of the recovery.

Ibrahim Mazza took over the playmaking, and Bounedjah and Amoura activated the attacking line.

Winning bet

Bosnian coach Vladimir Petkovic was successful in his choices, as the national team dominated the match in length and breadth.

Petkovic was able to test the largest number of players, especially those who had not had a starting position before, such as goalkeeper Ben Bout, or who were new, such as Yassine Titaroui, or who recorded their return to the team, such as Bennacer and Belaid.

The Greens possessed the ball for most of the match, and they also created many opportunities to score.

The players controlled the tone of the match, firstly thanks to their good distribution on the field and secondly to the rapid pressure exerted on the opponent when the ball was missed.

Ait Nouri, for example, showed great flexibility in shifting from the position of left-back or corridor player to midfield to give the team numerical superiority when building from the back.

The only negative point

The Greens failed to keep a clean sheet when facing Zimbabwe, as Belgali’s obstruction of striker Chirwa caused the referee to announce a penalty kick.

The national team’s performance declined during the last half hour, as the team lost some balance as the coach made a tactical change.

The team moved from a 3-4-1-2 plan to 4-1-2-3, with Titarawi and Adam Zarqan participating alongside Zerrougui in the midfield, Ammoura shifting to the left wing, Anis Hadj Moussa entering the right side, and replacing Bounedjah with a decision in the heart of the attack.

The Greens lost that smoothness and speed in moving the ball from defense, then midfield, to attack, which greatly affected the team’s attacks, and this was evident in the final result, as the players were unable to score in the last periods of the second half.
