In pictures … the opening of the finals of the National School Championship for Collective Sports in Oran – Algerian Dialogue
On Tuesday evening, the Minister of National Education, Mohamed Al -Sagheer Saadawi, supervised the Sports Palace Hamo Boutelis in Oran, accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Walid Sadi, and the Minister of Youth, assigned to the Supreme Council of Youth, Mustafa Haidawi, and the governor of the state of Oran, Samir Shaibani, at the opening ceremony of the National School Championship for Collective Sports, organized under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Abdul Majeed Taboun, under the slogan: Our schools, ”the opening ceremony was also attended by the President of the Algerian Federation for School Sports, representatives of Parliament in its two rooms, and representatives of the state authorities, and on the military, security and civil sectors.
The ceremony, which came in a distinct festive atmosphere, started with the national anthem and various reviews that included sports, artistic and scout shows, in addition to a photographer about the reality and horizons of school sport, to be crowned with the word of the Minister of National Education, who officially announced the start of the national finals, which continue until July 11, 2025.
In his opening speech, the minister expressed his happiness to oversee this national sports date, which he described as the broadest of its kind in the history of independent Algeria, noting that more than five million male and female students from the various states of the country participated in the qualifiers in four basic group sports: football, handball, basketball, and volleyball.
The Minister also pointed out that the organization of this tournament coincided with Algeria’s celebrations of the 63rd anniversary of Independence and Youth Day, stressing that school sport represents an extension of an integrated national project, which seeks to build a comprehensive Algerian school concerned with educational achievement as it sponsors physical, cultural and psychological training.
The Minister reviewed the five stages that preceded these finals, starting from school courses at the level of departments in the month of December 2024, through the municipal stages, then the departments, as state and regional competitions, to these finals in which teams representing the elite educational institutions in the states participate in a total of 2336 students from the three educational phases, under the framework of 384 frameworks.
The Minister also stressed that the organization of this tournament falls within the framework of implementing the high instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdul Majeed Taboun, issued by the Council of Ministers on September 22, 2024, and that the launch of a national school championship for group sports, in the context of a strategic vision aimed at reorganizing school sport on scientific and structural foundations
The minister pointed out that the Ministry of National Education, in coordination with the Ministry of Sports and the Algerian Federation for School Pride, worked on the actual embodiment of this project, starting with giving the first qualifying start signal on January 11, 2025 from the state of Tipaza, to these national finals in the state of Oran.
The Minister also emphasized the educational, psychological and social dimensions of exercise in the school community, highlighting its role in promoting personal balance, social integration and prevention from various aspects of deviation, as well as its contribution to discovering sports talents and supporting the national elite.
In the same context, the minister reminded of a number of important directives that were mentioned in the previous ministers’ council data, including emphasizing the need for sport to receive attention from the early stages of education. Pay special care for school sport and create championships at various levels. The creation of a general directorate for school sport, and the employment of professors specialized in primary education.
The Minister concluded his speech by thanking everyone who contributed to the success of this national demonstration, from the local authorities to professors, supervisors and inspectors, and all partners across the various ministerial sectors, stressing the commitment of the national education sector to continue to develop school sport as a basic tributary in building human and citizenship.
In an enthusiastic atmosphere, the minister announced the official opening of the finals of this tournament, after which the starting signal is given the first handball matches, after an exhibition interview in the bell ball for the category of people with special needs.
