Gharib calls for expanding partnerships between the industrial and energy sectors – Algerian Dialogue

The Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Sifi Gharib, called, Monday in Algiers, for expanding areas of cooperation and partnership between the industrial and energy sectors, so that together they form “a locomotive and a lever for the national economy.”
In his speech on the occasion of the signing of six framework agreements between public industrial complexes and Sonatrach to provide it with products and services, in the presence of the Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, Mr. Gharib highlighted the importance of these agreements, which constitute a “building block for cooperation” between the two sectors, which must expand the areas Cooperation and partnership between them, according to a statement by the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production.
The Minister touched on his sector’s strategy for developing handling and reverse engineering, pointing out “the importance of counting all inputs as well as outputs related to national products in coordination with the energy and mining sector in references (annuaires) in this context.”
He also pointed out the importance of having a national network for reverse engineering and a national network for authentication and conformity, which the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production is working to embody in this effort aimed at promoting national integration by exploiting all available local capabilities, according to the same source.
The agreements were signed, which come in implementation of the national policy to promote local content and national integration, to provide the Sonatrach group with products and services within the framework of its activities related to the hydrocarbons sector.
The agreements were signed by the National Steel Company, the Holding Company for Mechanical Industries, the Algerian Holding Company for Chemical Specialties, the Holding Company for Local Industries, the Holding Company for Electronic, Home and Electrical Industries “ELAC Algeria,” and the Holding Company for Textiles and Leather “GETAX.”
Under these agreements, which extend for three years, the industrial complexes and their subsidiaries supply Sonatrach and its subsidiaries with products and services according to the characteristics they need and at competitive prices. The ministry notes, stressing that “this step falls within the framework of implementing the national policy to promote local content, enhance national integration, and reduce the bill.” Imports.
The statement stated that “similar contracts were concluded between these industrial complexes and Sonatrach in the period from 2017 to 2022, which allowed for the conclusion of 1,392 industrial handling contracts according to the statistics provided by Sonatrach.”
