6 Algerian athletes in the 2026 World Athletics World Cup – New Algeria

Six Algerian athletes succeeded in securing their participation in the 2026 World Indoor Athletics Championships, scheduled in Poland, at the end of this March.

After the end of the specified period for qualifying visas for the World Cup on March 8, the six Algerian athletes were able to determine their qualifications, based on their achievement of the minimum times in their specializations or according to the positions they occupy in the world rankings.

Accordingly, four athletes were able to qualify by achieving the minimum times specified by the International Association of Athletics Federations. The matter concerns Yasser Muhammad Tahir Triki in the triple jump (17.35 metres), Muhammad Ali Gawand andSuleiman Mawla In the 800 meter race (1m 44s 76c and 1m 44s 80c respectively), and Moataz Abdel Razzaq Sikiwi in the 400m race (45s 53c).

Younes Ayashi (17 years old), who has the best international performance in the under-18 category in the high jump (2.28 metres), and Haitham Shenetif in the 1500 meter race (3m 36s 51g), also secured their qualification thanks to their ranking in the world classification.

And just Algerian Athletics FederationThis qualification clearly reflects “the high level of Algerian athletes and their continued commitment to honoring national sports in international competitions.”

The World Championship will be held indoors, in the Polish city of Turan, from March 20 to 22.
