Four players from the Algerian championship are on the expanded list prepared by the national football team coach, Vladimir Petkovic, in anticipation of the scheduled preparatory camp, in Italy, in the last week of this March.
The coach of the Algerian national football team, Vladimir Petkovic prepared an expanded list of 50 players, before deciding on the official list that he will choose to participate in the preparatory camp scheduled in Italy, from March 23 to 31, which will include two friendly matches against the Guatemala national team on the 27th and Uruguay on the 31st.
This camp is part of the national team’s preparations to participate in the FIFA World Cup Finals, scheduled from June 11 to July 19 of this year, in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.
According to several Informed sourcesPetkovic’s expanded list includes only 4 players from the Algerian professional championship, including JS Kabylie goalkeeper Gaia Merbah, his teammate in the same team, defender Zinedine Belaid, and defenders Noufal Khasif (CS Belouizdad) and Achraf Abada (US Algeria).
It is expected that the number will decrease when the official list concerned with the Italian camp is announced, which raises several questions and revives the debate about the eligibility of the local player to be part of the first Algerian national team.
It is worth noting that the Algerian national team will play two more preparatory matches, before the start of the next World Cup finals, one against the Netherlands national team, next June 3 in Rotterdam, and the second in Kansas City, USA, against a national team on a date that has not been officially determined.
