Algeria stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting dialogue and rapprochement between peoples and consolidating the principles of peace and cooperation “South-South”.
The Vice-President of the National People’s Assembly, Abdullah Harchaya, and his accompanying delegation, representing the President of the National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Bougali, participated in the Summit of Speakers of Parliaments in Latin America and the Caribbean, held at the permanent headquarters of the Parliament of Latin America and the Caribbean (Perlatino) in the Republic of Panama, accompanied by an accompanying delegation.
The summit was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, the Regional Director-General of the Development Bank in Latin America and the Caribbean, along with a number of heads of national and regional parliaments, which reflects the importance of this parliamentary framework in enhancing consultation and coordination among the countries of the region.
During the session designated for observing members, Harchaya delivered a speech on behalf of the President of the National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali, in which he presented the Algerian National People’s Assembly’s keenness to support parliamentary cooperation with the Berlatino, and stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting dialogue and rapprochement between peoples, and consolidating the principles of peace and cooperation “South-South.”
The speech reviewed an aspect of the Algerian experience in the field of development, in the context of the reforms led by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, especially those related to social policies, health, employment, education, entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and improving the investment climate, in addition to emphasizing Algeria’s adherence to the principles of self-determination, respect for the sovereignty of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, and support for sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the work, Harshaya, on behalf of the President of the National People’s Assembly, exchanged protocol greetings with the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Panama, the Vice President of the Parliament of Costa Rica, the Vice President of Bolivia, the President of the Parliament, the Vice President of the Parliament, as well as the Permanent Representative of Turkey in the Parliament.
This participation confirmed the readiness of the National People’s Assembly to continue working and coordinating with the Parliament of Latin America and the Caribbean, Berlatino, in a way that enhances parliamentary cooperation and serves common interests.
In addition to Harshaya, MPs Quraish Jamal, Bakhwa Djilali and Muftah Ahsan participated in these works.
