The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, awarded a medal from the National Merit Class with the rank of “Commander” to the mujahid, writer, and scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Saleh Al-Siddiq, in appreciation of his scholarly and advocacy career and in honor of his great contributions to spreading the values ​​of moderation, moderation, and tolerance.

The awarding ceremony of the medal was supervised, on Thursday at the Palace of Culture by Mufdi Zakaria (Algiers), by the Minister of Culture and Arts, Mrs. Malika Bendouda, and the Advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of Education, Higher Education, Vocational Training and Culture, Nasreddine Ben Tayfour, in the presence of a number of ministers and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense, in addition to a number of national and cultural figures.

By the way, the Minister of Culture and Arts read the letter addressed by the President of the Republic to the scholar Mohamed Saleh Al-Siddiq, in which he said: “Praise be to God for blessing your life, which you spent filled with cultural and intellectual generosity. Since you were a young man, you drew from the sources of the two learned sheikhs, Abdelhamid Ben Badis and Bashir Ibrahimi, and their venerable brothers in the Algerian Muslim Scholars Association, and you were imbued with your generation in that difficult period in Algeria’s history with the values of the national struggle during the National Movement, which was in The 1930s charts the way towards a near date with the dawn of the Al-Fateh Revolution in November 1954.”

Addressing the scholar Muhammad Saleh Al-Siddiq, the President of the Republic added: “You were among the vanguards of that generation of intellectuals who undertook honorable national tasks in order to radiate national liberation awareness in the days when hateful colonialism was holding our breath, fighting identity and belonging, and seeking to distort our true religion, obliterate our ancient culture, and exclude our language.”

An author who is jealous of the nation and its glories

He continued, saying: “At that time, you were a journalist, one of the first pens of the media platforms of the Association of Scholars, a witness in its pages to the events of a very important stage in the modern history of Algeria, and a discreet writer distinguished by the purity of the mind, the solemnity of the word, the originality of the idea, the nobility of the position, and the sincerity of patriotism, combining the sublimity of meaning and ease of structure. You were also, during your blessed path, a scrutinizing investigator in the field of history with a sense of committed patriotism.”

The President of the Republic continued in his message by saying: “In all of this and other things that are not appropriate for this place, you highlighted in your honorable person the model of the creative writer who is jealous of the nation and its glories, proud of belonging to Algeria and its proud people, and preserving the deposit of his companions of the righteous martyrs and brave mujahideen. It is no wonder that today you have received honor and appreciation because you are worthy of that, with the weapon of the pen and the achievements of thought. So congratulations on this well-deserved honor and what you are doing.” You continue to devote yourself to the field of writing and research, confirming the wisdom of your saying: (If a person resolves to live, he will not die, because those who truly live are those who push life forward, give it meaning, and free time from sterility and banality).”

The President of the Republic concluded his message by saying: “Congratulations to you, and from your high position in jihad and knowledge, you are deservedly awarded with the Medal of the rank of Commander in the National Merit Class.”

A beautiful and highly appreciated tribute
For his part, the scholar Sheikh Muhammad Saleh Al-Siddiq expressed his thanks to the President of the Republic and his pride in this “beautiful and highly appreciated honor.” The ceremony witnessed the screening of excerpts from a documentary film about the biography of the scholar Muhammad Saleh Al-Siddiq, entitled “The Pen and the Machine Gun,” directed by Youssef Omran, which will be shown in all cinema halls across the national territory.

The distinguished Mujahid Sheikh Muhammad Saleh Al-Siddiq, born in 1925, is considered one of the most prolific writers in the Arab world, as he produced nearly 200 books in the fields of thought and literature.
